Determined to prove herself as more than just an obsessive fangirl, she created a version of The Joker toxin and used it to kill her college dean. The Joker, observing from inside her wardrobe, was impressed and dubbed her Punchline, seeing her as a potential partner in his criminal activities against Batman.

The Joker often arms himself with clown and circus-themed weapons, such as razor-sharp playing cards and acid-squirting lapel flowers. He tends to establish his base in abandoned card factories or rundown circus grounds, staying true to his favorite motifs.
